Don’t forget:

Having a bad day is alright. You’re allowed to have a bad day and still heal. A bad day doesn’t mean you didn’t make progress. You’re doing hard work and you are allowed to have a bad day!

Hi, guys ‘n gals ‘n nonbinary buddies!

One of the things that always manages to trigger me is the unavoidable father’s day posts and articles that flood the web every June. Since a large part of my job requires heavy internet usage and presence, I can’t avoid it, but I can make it more bearable.

Cue the word replacement apps! They’re super useful for any sort of trigger phrase, and they’re all totally free. In fact, they can be kind of fun to use. For instance, I really hate seeing things on father’s day, so I decided to make the web look a little absurd. I navigated the app and had it replace any instance of “father” to “BB-8″ and any instance of “dad” to “spooky scary ghosts.” It can actually be really funny when I forget it’s on!

Here’s how it looks for me on my browser when I Google “father’s day”:

It’s clearly not perfect since you can still see images with the word and the search bar didn’t correct itself, but all of the words on the page itself are swapped. Definitely better!

Here are some helpful word replacers you can use anytime to replace any trigger phrases:

Enjoy, and share any goofy replacements if you have them!Edit: If anybody knows anything for mobile users, please let me know! My best friend was searching for something during Mother’s Day and she hasn’t got access to a computer, so she had to stay away from the web all day. Thanks!
